Basic labor force data are gathered monthly; data on special topics are gathered in periodic supplements.<\/h4>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Source of data\u00a0&#8211; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bls.gov\/cps\/cps_over.htm#source\">BLS Handbook of Methods<\/a><\/strong><u><\/u><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u><em>State Data Source<\/em><\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS)\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Overview<\/h1>\n<h4>The Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) program is a Federal-State cooperative effort in which monthly estimates of total employment and unemployment are prepared for approximately 7,300 areas:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Census regions and divisions<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>States<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Metropolitan Statistical Areas and Metropolitan NECTAS (New England City and Town Areas)<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Metropolitan Divisions and NECTA Divisions<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Micropolitan Statistical Areas and Micropolitan NECTAs<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Combined Metropolitan Statistical Areas and Combined NECTAs<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Small Labor Market Areas<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Counties and county equivalents<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Cities of 25,000 population or more<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Cities and towns in New England regardless of population<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>These estimates are key indicators of local economic conditions. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) of the U.S. Department of Labor is responsible for the concepts, definitions, technical procedures, validation, and publication of the estimates that State employment security agencies prepare under agreement with BLS. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bls.gov\/lau\/lauov.htm\">(More&#8230;)<\/a><\/h4>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bls.gov\/lau\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Local Area Unemployment Statistics<\/a><\/strong><\/h1>\n<h4>To date, we have been unable to find monthly employment\/unemployment data by state for disabled workers.\u00a0 In lieu of data taken directly from the Bureau of Labor Statisitics (BLS), my associate, Andrew P. Hardy, PhD., has created a calculation based on the following BLS data:<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>BLS Monthly National Employment\/Unemployment Data<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>BLS Monthly State Employment\/Unemployment Data<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>BLS Monthly National Disabled\/Not Disabled Employment\/Unemployment Data<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em><u>The formula has been further modified to estimate the state seasonally adjusted unemployment rates from the national not seasonally adjusted\u00a0unemployment rates for people\u00a0with a disability and no disability.<\/u><\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>This formula has been applied to BLS monthly state Employment\/Unemployment Data to <em>estimate<\/em> the monthly\u00a0State Disabled\/Not Disabled Employment\/Unemployment Data.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>I will update monthly as the data becomes available.\u00a0 Since the data for unemployment rates by state by month for disabled and not disabled people categories is not available from the Bureau of Labor Statisitics (BLS), we have created estimates based on the data that is available from the BLS.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>You can find more information about each state at the following sites:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.netstate.com\" target=\"_blank\" large;\">State Websites<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><\/h4>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">I have used images from the <u>official state websites<\/u> as icons for the links to specific areas on their websites.\u00a0 I am currently seeking approval from each state to use these images for the links.\u00a0 Worst case, I will have to use a generic image for the links but the links will remain the same.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">I am also keeping track of my contact and information received from each state.\u00a0 This table will be updated as new information becomes available.<\/span><\/h4>\n<div align=\"center\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\"><a align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">I also am in contact with the USPS for approval of using images of the Greetings and State Bird and Flower stamps.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">City Links<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><\/h4>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">I have included links to many of the <u>official city websites<\/u> in each state.\u00a0 Please visit these sites and let me know if they provide information about hiring people with disabilities for employers or workers.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Scorecards<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><\/h4>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">I am also in the process of setting up a scorecard for each site so that they can be ranked for how valuable they are for providing information about hiring people with disabilities.\u00a0 I will set up the scorecard for each state for:<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Information on Jobs Throughout the State<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4 align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Specific Resources
